Welcome to All About Family...because in today's day and age, the need to create a strong family unit is ever so important.

My name is Brenda, and I am a wife and mother. I am also a daughter, a sister, a cousin, an aunt, a niece, a granddaughter, and well, you get the picture. Family is a big focus in my life. My husband (Charles) and I have a goal to to raise our daughters in such a way, that they will become strong, productive citizens, who will continue our legacy. The question is: what is the best way to go about doing that? The answer is: There is no static answer. The answer is ever-changing and evolving. Because no human being remains the same.

For the time being, though, we try our best to be involved in their lives as much as possible. We ask how their day went; my husband's favorite question for them is: "What was the best thing that happened to you today?" We also make sure they have constructive activities to do. Each of our daughters is enrolled in either dance or gymnastics. They also are involved in our local church; every Wednesday night we attend "Adventure Club", and on Sundays, we attend church services together. We keep in close contact with their friends, asking them questions, too.

One of our favorite extra-curricular activities is "movie night." My husband won a digital movie projector a couple of years ago. Every few months, we invite friends from the girls' school, as well as kids from the neighborhood, and we project a new release onto the building next to ours. Charles and I pass out popcorn, caprisuns, and Famous Amos cookies to everyone who comes. The kids have a great time. I mean, how could they not? Imagine sitting in the grass with 40-50 other kids, watching a movie that's as big as a house? Lots of fun.  And lots of really cool memories.

That's what life is really all about, isn't it? Memories? Hopefully, Charles and I will succeed in planting some really fantastic ones in our children's minds. We sure are trying hard to do so.
